State & Local Policy Working Group
Monitors state government activities affecting the development, use and sale of electronic security solutions. This working group provides insight into the state legislative challenges facing the industry and helps shape SIA’s support or opposition to these initiatives. State legislation can directly impact customers’ spending decisions and their ability to use security products and services.
Small Business Working Group
Provides SIA members with timely and valuable information about government contracting policies that may affect their businesses. A primary goal of the Working Group is to save small businesses time and resources by educating them about the complexities of contracting with the government.
GSA Policy Working Group
Provides SIA members with information about government policies impacting their Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) contracts. It serves as a forum for members to discuss policy issues that affect their ability to conduct business with customers who acquire electronic security solutions through the MAS Program. Members can help develop and influence SIA’s positions regarding federal and state procurement issues.
Government Security End-User Group
Provides a vendor neutral educational forum for government infrastructure security end-users. Vendors and government infrastructure security end-users will be able to communicate the needs facing those who are active in the government end-user sector.
PIV Working Group
Creates visibility and access to government agencies and contractors involved with the implementation requirements of PIV in accordance with HSPD-12, FIPS 201 and related documents and standards. The group serves as a liaison between SIA and the federal government and influences policies impacting PIV within the government. Membership is open to both SIA and non-SIA member companies, as well as federal employees and contractors.
Biometric Employment Verification Working Group
Formulates and drafts SIA positioning on employment verfication programs using biometric technology. The group also helps raise awareness to policymakers and stakeholders.
