Aviation Security
Iowa HB240, "An Act Requiring the State Department of Transportation to Conduct a Review of Aviation Security Measures Necessary to Prevent Terrorism."
This legislation requires the State Administrator of Aeronautics and Public Transit to review existing policies and procedures to determine if security improvements involving private aviation services, pilot training and background checks on pilots need to be made. During the review the Administrator would consult with other states and the Federal Government.
This bill did not make it out of committee this year however it will carry over to next year's session, which is slated to begin in January of 2008. It is expected to be evaluated then.
