Missouri SB88, "Creation of the Office of Enterprise Technology"
This bill would create the state Office of Enterprise Technology. The office would be permitted to be involved with issuing technology contracts, grant funds and participating in standards developing organizations. The bill would also task the state CIO with establishing cyber security guidelines, standards and policies.
The legislation died when the session ended in May 2007. Staff reported that Senator Bartle's goal was to streamline the operation of various state agencies so that best practices were followed in the realm of technology. The bill never received much committee support, but the governor's office has undertaken the same goals apart from legislation.
