This legislation was signed into law on May 5, 2007. The program offers funding to address immediate safety or health hazards and to improve intrusion prevention.
New Jersey SB2373, School Security Grants
This legislation would establish a grant program to finance security improvements within the New Jersey school system. The program would be administered by the Commissioner of Education in cooperation with the state office of homeland security and preparedness.
The sponsor’s staff informed SIA that the legislation was intentionally written vague in an effort to apply the grant program to as many security projects, technologies and improvements as possible. The legislation has yet to advance from committee.
