- Developing common, open, interoperability protocols and performance standards
- Representing SIA to the Security Industry Standards Committee (SISC), to other Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs), and to standards related venues.

Call for Comments on Proposed New Work Activity - Comments Due November 17
The Standards department received a request for new standards activity work on a Standardized Identity Provisioning into Building Access Control Applications. A copy of the proposal can be downloaded from here. Industry comment period ends on Monday November 17, 2008. Any comments should be directed to Monica Rigano. In addition, the SIA Standards Committee will be dedicating some time to discussion of the project proposal as a group at their upcoming ISC East meeting Wed, October 29 (9-12noon) in Room 1E-08 of the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
Two New ANSI Standards Released
The Security Industry Association today released two new American National Standards: ANSI/SIA CP-01-2007 (Revision of ANSI/SIA CP-01-2000) Control Panel Standard Features for False Alarm Reduction; and ANSI/SIA DC-09-2007: SIA Digital Communication Standard Internet Protocol Event Reporting.
